Depth of Field Assessment
The second set of photos in the middle:
The first photo has the leaves in focus, but the floor and wall and sunlight behind it is slightly in focus giving a wider depth of field compared to the second photo in which the leaves are the sole-focus of the photo. It has a shallow depth of field. To create the shallow depth of field I set the aperture to a lower setting. To create the larger depth of field I set the aperture to a higher setting. I feel that the first photo in the set is the better photo because of the elements it captures in the background. Notice the reflection in the window of the street outside. I really like that about that photo. I also like the two little leaves that lead you to the background of the photo.
I would want to use a shallow depth of field in a situation where i only wanted to focus on one thing. If i was trying to capture something small or even just that i wanted one thing. I would use a larger depth of field when i was trying to capture a lot of things in a picture or the picture had a large depth and that i wanted to capture everything from the foreground to the background.
