PHOTO EMULATION
"Bright Eyes" by Ingrid Endel -Photo on the Left
"Bright Girl" by Kendra Ford -Photo on the Right
Ingrid Endel's photo "Bright Eyes" really captured my attention because of it's dated but modern look. I love black and white photos and this one in particular is especially fun in the small details like the adorable puckered lips and head scarf. I also like that the model has bangs; it frames her face nicely along with her hands. These little details come together in this photo to make a traditionally common subject matter fun and different.
Ingrid Endel lives in Brisbane, Australia. She is a self-taught artist and started photography at the age of 12. Ingrid most commonly photograph's people and herself. She says this:
"I am a dancer at heart, and in constant search for meaning. I like to tell stories and take people on journey's. The unusual, the unspoken, movement and the possibility of the human body are just a few of my inspirations . Photography as allowed me to use my skills as a dancer to extend the boundaries of human expression."
To emulate this photo I used a similar looking model, dressed her up in a head scarf, and had her do the same expression as the one in the photograph. I wanted the lighting and the background to be as close as possible so I took the photograph in a studio setting using lighting focused on the right side of her face and from above on the right to simulate the shadows and exposure that is seen in Ingrid Endel's photo.
